khy's journey: A fighter from the start

"From a glow in her eye to a battle for her life-this is the story of courage, family, and unwavering love."

Diagnosis at 3 Months Old

At just 3 months old, our baby girl Khylese — lovingly known as Khy — was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive eye cancer.

One tiny white glow in her eye changed everything. It wasn’t just her vision at risk — it was her life.

In that moment, our world shattered. But we knew we had to fight.

Monthly Travel for Treatment

Within days, Khy began chemotherapy. She’s since endured multiple rounds, blood draws, anesthesia, and more hospital visits than most people face in a lifetime — all before her first birthday.

Because the care she needs is so specialized, we
travel monthly from Phoenix to Los Angeles. We’ve learned how to juggle hospital schedules, long-distance flights, and parenting — all while trying to hold our family together.

We do it because Khy is
worth every mile, every tear, every sleepless night.

A Scare Inside Her Brain

In January — just a few months after she turned one — doctors discovered a mass near Khy’s pineal gland during a routine MRI.

The fear was immediate: trilateral retinoblastoma, a rare and often deadly spread of eye cancer into the brain.

She underwent brain surgery.

By the grace of God, the mass was benign. But watching her — our tiny daughter — relearn how to balance, regain strength, and smile again after surgery?
It broke us… and rebuilt us.
Her resilience is beyond anything we could’ve imagined.

Big Sister, Big Emotions

While we were focused on saving Khy’s life, we began to realize her big sister, Kennedi, was hurting too.
At just 7 years old, Kennedi was watching her baby sister go through treatments, tubes, and tears — but didn’t fully understand why. She just knew her parents were often gone… and her family didn’t feel the same.

We needed a way to show her that her love mattered. That she was just as brave. That she was part of this fight too.

How the Coloring Book Was Born

That’s how My Sister, My Hero came to life.

What started as a way to help our daughter Kennedi understand what her baby sister was going through has now become a tool for families everywhere.
This coloring and activity book helps siblings feel included, empowered, and seen during a time that often makes them feel invisible.

It’s helping kids find healing. It’s helping families start conversations. And it’s spreading awareness — one page at a time.

Why We Created KhyStrong Forever

KhyStrong Forever is our mission. It’s our movement. It’s our message to the world.

We exist to raise awareness for retinoblastoma and childhood cancer. To uplift families walking this same road. And to remind everyone that even the smallest child can inspire the greatest strength.

Khy is more than a diagnosis.
She’s a survivor. A leader. A light.

And through her strength, we’re building something that will last forever.
We hope you’ll stand with us.
